FALCON participated in the online anti-corruption workshop on 23rd January 2025, organised by DG Home, DG RTD and the European Research Executive Agency (REA), together with five other projects under the EU funding programs of Horizon Europe or the Internal Security Fund: Bridgegap, RESPOND, Kleptotrace, Poseidon, and iMonitor. About 50 representatives of the European Commission were present.
The meeting aimed to connect the projects to policies, i.e. to inform the policy officers across the European Commission on research deliverables, recommendations, tools, etc. After a welcome and an introduction to recent policy developments, the individual projects and their specific goals were presented. Jenny Adamopoulou, coordinator of our project, explained the objectives of FALCON and its approach as well as ongoing activities. After the presentations, there was an open discussion between the project representatives and the officials of EU institutions, not only about the projects themselves but also on broader topics like the anti-corruption directive that is expected to be adopted this year.
The event was not only a good opportunity to present our work to the EC but also to get in touch with other EU-funded projects dealing with anti-corruption. We are happy to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on advancing anti-corruption efforts across Europe.
